There is a very simple way to prevent fraude performed in the way they mention here, but that would place responsibility with the shop owner, compare the account number on the card to the one printend on the receipt. No match, then you're working with a fake card, hold the customer, call the police. Simple!

last year some jerk copied my card but i had only used it in one place it was at a hasty market at yonge and davisville in toronto. i had not made any purchases on it in over a week b/c i am paid every two weeks, cashed my cheque at my bank and it was empty and then i used one debit. i told the bank and guess what the machine is no longer in the store but how can they still have there store... they should be in jail ii had to get all new cards, pissed me off!

I remember dozen years ago, the WHO website listed many alternative treatments that are used worldwide, and what ailments they recommended those treatments for. This info has all been scrubbed. I had a problem with my local "Peter" type in California too. I wanted to make sure that there was NO MISTAKE in my vote so I went over the procedure with the people running the polling. Turns out they gave me the wrong instructions. Instead of simply punching "Democrat" and voting (I'm Independent) there was ANOTHER little spot that needed to be punched. Thus my vote didn't count. I was given incorrect instructions and told to only punch Democrat. This was a deliberate trick.

I also live in Los Angeles, I also registered Republican to vote Ron Paul, and I was also forced to cast my vote for him via provisional ballot. I called in to verify how my vote was counted after the several-month waiting period, and they told me it wasn't counted at all because I wasn't registered Republican at the time of the vote :(

I work for NYL before. This comp doesn't treat their employees all that well either. Many will say I am a loser and I sucked but I am now making 80k working as an analyst. They will hire anyone and everyone and throw you against wall and whoever sticks sticks. Prospecting $ comes out of your pocket. This is a profitable comp.
