I learned a long time ago that the Kinks will always be my favorite, with the Boss, who I am seeing tomorrow for the world tour opener in San Jose, right behind. Bruce wasnt always perfect, especially in the 90's with 2 mediocre records Human Touch and Lucky Town, but the Kinks literally have hundreds of timeless gems, and the fact that music critics and musicians worship them and not the general public makes them even more special. The style may not appeal to all, but he has uncommonly rare amount of skill in playing. @wildizer I personally disagree with you, although of course it's only taste. I think there were plenty of great tracks from MK and the boys. I think some songs on some albums like Guaranteed are often overlooked while they can be pretty damn funky and interesting. More recently and perhaps less 'cheesy' are songs like Dive Into the Sun and Sleep Talking, which is my favourite of theirs. Sleep Talking is amazing imo. Great for the party atmosphere and really ups the tension towards the end.

"Cafe Americain" lasted only one season on NBC. It's time slot was 8:30 PM(et) on Saturday nights, right after NBC's other then-new sitcom "The Mommies"(8:00 PM-et), and right before "Empty Nest"(9:00 PM et). It was on from September 18, 1993-May 28, 1994.

I loved working this show. Val is a truly wonderful human being. The ratings were a little low, but after the 1994 Northridge, California earthquake the set at the Warner Bros. studios was trashed. So we NEVER went back into production.

I used to live beneath Norbert and Gale on Bowser Street back in the late 80s and I absolutely loved being able to listen to their rehearsals and sharing meals with them. Good times for sure! I also loved listening to The Gyros Quartet at the Dream Cafe every Sunday night. Sigh... I lost touch with them after I moved to NYC.
